Other regions

These are all areas we would have liked to continue helping, but can’t due to lack of resources.

Bryansk

Big Hearts Foundation helped open the first shelter in the city of Bryansk in 2012 with a donation. Since then been guiding the volunteers in make it one of the most “European” shelters in Russia! Neutered, healthy animals are being re-homed and actively promoted by the committed team in Bryansk.

Astrahanj

Big Hearts Foundation has completed a neutering project in Atsrakhanj in June 2014 due to lack of funds and lack of time from the key volunteer Victoria. We are very grateful for her contribution to the project – Since the start of the project in March 2013, on average 30 animals per months have been neutered. Sterilization should be available for all the members of the society. This is the only way to stop the stream of neglected animals. Currently normal price for neutering an animal in Russia is 1/3 of average monthly salary or more. This is the main reason preventing people from doing it.

Murom

In Murom, unfortunately after our many efforts to get a shelter space form the local government, we failed to secure a premises form them. There is many buildings in state of decay which they could provide, we remain hopeful… We started with the key element there – social ads and affordable neutering. Special attention is given to cultivating responsible treatment of animals by children, there is plans to give humane education lessons in schools. We really need volunteers and of course financial help!

Rostov-on-Don

In Rostov we took on the controversial task of uniting animal welfare volunteers and the state municipal shelter, which was deemed a horrible place. Taking a closer look and after trying to cooperate the European way, we discovered the most cooperative administration in Russia! After a successful private neutering project in Autumn 2012, where we paid for 240 surgeries, we convinced the municipal shelter to cooperate with us and pay for most of the procedure. We had our representative there helping to keep the big influx of animals clean, vaccinated and quarantined. So far together from 1st of March 2013 till Sep 2013 we have neutered and castrated 1250 animals.

Rostov Velikij

Here there is still no shelter. Just some people fostering animals , whilst looking for a permanent home for them. We started with the key element there – social ads and affordable neutering. Special attention is given to cultivating responsible treatment of animals by children, there is plans to give humane education lessons in schools. We really need volunteers and of course financial help! Let’s say no to indifference and cruelty! Let’s say “yes” to civilization, participation of community in animal matters, children’s laughter, atmosphere of humanity and optimism in Rostov Velikij.

Voronez

In cooperation with veterinary practice “Panda” we have been running a successful neutering project, where more than 500 animals have been neutered and castrated so far. The first part of the project was led by our volunteer  and the amazing doctor Lucko Irina Alexandrovna in 2012. In 2013 and 2014 we have been cooperating with another veterinary hospital “Friends” and the lovely Nika Mironova who coordinates that the animals have a place to recover after surgery. In countries where stray problems have been successfully resolved, key success factors were social ad campaigns and affordable, widely available neutering. Let’s say know to kittens in litter bins, puppies under car wheels, foul smelling stair cases, let’s say “yes” to socially responsible citizens, ecologically friendly youth and humanely educated youth!

Vyazma

In Vyazma  there is still no shelter, just some people fostering animals , whilst looking for a permanent home for them. We started with the key element there – social ads and affordable neutering. Special attention is given to cultivating responsible treatment of animals by children, there is plans to give humane education lessons in schools. We really need volunteers and of course financial help! Let’s say “no” to indifference and cruelty! Lets say “yes” to civilization, participation of community in animal matters, children’s laughter, atmosphere of humanity and optimism in Vyazma!

Other cities where we have helped previously and can reinstate activity, were funds available: Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk, Yalta, Ustj-Kamenogorsk (Kazachstan), Dagestan, Ivanovo, Vladimir, Segeza and more..
