Last week representatives of Big Hearts Foundation Anastasiya Komagina and Irina Alisova participated in annual Teaching Fair in Moscow. They presented a Teacher’s Handbook on Kindness Lessons for children aged from six to eleven years.
This Handbook was developed by Big Hearts Foundation and is based on good practices and learning from teachers across the World. It includes the theory of humane education and offers an extensive range of practical and lively activities for the classroom.
Big Hearts presentation topic – ‘Study of Biology and Humane Treatment of Animals in Schools’ also raised a big interest among participants.
“Our stand was visited by a large number of people, and we are extremely satisfied with how fast all the Handbooks were distributed and the interest shown by the teachers. We are also very grateful for an invitation to do the course of ‘Kindness Lessons’ in a school for disabled children. It is a good opportunity to encourage positive relationships with companion animals, what is very important for children with disabilities as they may have trouble making friends with kids of their own age. Animals give children an opportunity to connect with all living creatures,” says Irina.
Big Hearts Foundation promotes and encourages teachers and educators in Russia to incorporate ‘Kindness Lessons’ into their lessons and develop sensitivity to all life, appreciation of diversity and tolerance of difference.
Childhood is the time when one’s character is being formed. Therefore, we believe that by explaining what it means to be a human by examining out relationships to other creatures, we can help stop animal cruelty before it starts!
In the near future Big Hearts Foundation is planning to employ teachers in different cities around Russia to do the course of ‘Kindness Lessons’ in local schools.
